Socks on Sunday

Good Morning!

We spent the day yesterday at my in-laws.  They held a BBQ with their entire side of the family.  Being gluten-free it is often difficult, when eating with others, as things that seem harmless actually can cause a many days of discomfort.  Luckily, my mother-in-law takes great care to keep me safe and reads all the labels.  My father-in-law means well and I always feel as though I’m disappointing him when I decline something he tried to purchase for me as he’s such a sweetheart.  I brought my own burger buns yesterday and he mentioned he bought potato rolls, wheat being the first ingredient in those rolls specific rolls.  Its a frustrating learning experience for all of us being newly diagnosed.

Sadly, my husband’s side of the family are not picture people and while I bought my camera, I didn’t take it out.  I let my husband know I had it but neither of us took it out.  I’m not sure if my daughter knew or not because she is a picture person and would have filled the memory card.  Next time, its her job.   I really should be more proactive because the children are only little for a tiny bit and I think we only have one or two pictures of my daughter with her cousin.

So, Marie, enough about the family stuff, what are you knitting?  Well, I’m glad you asked.  I have been waiting a long time for this yarn.  It is Yarn vs. Zombies Haunted Base in a custom colorway.  The colorway is my daughter’s school colors.  She is excited for her socks in school colors for spirit week.  Pictured is just about one foot of a sock.  This is my first time doing toe up socks.  I’m a die hard cuff down sock knitter!  The pattern is a modified Vanilla Bean Striped Socks by Emily O’Grady from the Whatcha Swatchin Podcast.  I’ll spent much of today working on these and folding laundry.  What are you working on?
